Who Can Join the IPSTP?
The Integrated Pharmacological Sciences Training Program (IPSTP) is open to PhD students in good standing from seven PhD programs — Pharmacology & Toxicology; Biochemistry and Molecular Biology; Chemistry; Chemical Engineering and Material Science; Microbiology, Genetics and Immunology; Neuroscience; and Molecular, Cellular and Integrative Physiology.
Students will focus in one of two unique areas of research: in vivo pharmacology and drug discovery. Trainees choose a research mentor from among more than 40 training faculty in the seven participating programs.
IPSTP Students are chosen by application, usually during the Spring Semester of their first year of doctoral training, with an initial one-year appointment. To be in good standing, students must:
- Maintain an overall GPA greater than 3.0;
- Actively participate in all IPSTP functions.
IPSTP students that are in good standing after the first year can be appointed for a second year.
